About this tour
This session covers the Brera district and the gallery at its centre, moving from the courtyard of Palazzo di Brera to the botanical garden and the cobbled streets around it. You see the entrance courtyard where the guide talks through paintings by Mantegna, Raphael and Hayez held inside, then the garden gate and the old artists' streets. It stays outdoors throughout rather than going into the collection itself.
After a short sound check, the walk moves between the three points, with time built in for questions about the paintings or the district. A short list of the works mentioned is sent afterwards.
This suits anyone with an interest in Renaissance and Baroque painting who wants the context around the gallery, or is deciding whether to visit.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Milan before heading out.
-
Palazzo di Brera courtyard 21 min
Standing in the courtyard under the statue of Napoleon as Mars, the guide describes what hangs just beyond these walls, Mantegna's Lamentation, Raphael's Marriage of the Virgin and Hayez's The Kiss, all inside the gallery above.
-
Brera botanical garden gate 21 min
At the garden gate on Via Fratelli Gabba, the guide points through the railings at the eighteenth-century Orto Botanico, once used to grow medicinal plants for the college of doctors.
-
Via Fiori Chiari 21 min
Walking down the cobbled street, the camera passes the small galleries and studios that gave the old artists' quarter its name, with the guide pointing out which buildings still work as ateliers.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Milan: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cotoletta alla milanese and Navigli, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
