About this tour
This session walks Bordeaux's old town from Place de la Bourse to the Saint-Michel quarter, taking in the Grosse Cloche and the lanes of Saint-Pierre along the way. You see the water mirror opposite the eighteenth-century square and the spire that watches over the Sunday market. It traces how the riverside changed after the restoration of the 2000s.
The guide opens with a sound check, then walks the old town stop by stop, comparing what stands today with older photographs of the same streets. Questions come in live, and a short list of what was covered follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone who wants Bordeaux's centre explained building by building. It also suits viewers who remember the city before its quays were cleaned up and want to see what changed.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 10 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bordeaux before heading out.
-
Place de la Bourse 21 min
The camera stands at Place de la Bourse, its facade doubled in the Miroir d'Eau, the reflecting pool opposite. The guide explains how the square was built to give Bordeaux's merchants a grand front onto the river.
-
The Grosse Cloche 21 min
Walking towards the old town, the camera passes under the Grosse Cloche, the medieval gate that once formed part of the city wall, its bell still rung on set occasions. The guide explains what the tower's two turrets originally guarded.
-
Rue Sainte-Catherine 21 min
Along Rue Sainte-Catherine and into the narrow lanes of Saint-Pierre, the guide points out how the street plan has barely changed since the medieval period, even as the shops along it have turned over completely.
-
Saint-Michel and the quays 21 min
The walk finishes near the Saint-Michel spire, where a market takes over the square each Sunday. The guide compares the riverside quays today with how they looked before the restoration of the 2000s stripped away decades of grime.
-
Your questions 18 min
Time to ask anything about Bordeaux: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 8 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Canelé and Saint-Pierre, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
