About this tour

This session follows the Howth cliff path from the head of the peninsula back down to the harbour. The camera moves along the sea cliffs to the Baily Lighthouse, back to the harbour where seals wait near the fishing boats, and out to the pier with Ireland's Eye visible offshore. It closes in the village itself.

After a sound check, the walk follows the loop in real order, cliff first and harbour last, with questions taken as the path allows rather than saved for the end. A short list of where to eat in the village afterwards goes out once the call closes.

This suits anyone planning a day trip out of Dublin who wants to see the walk before attempting it themselves. It also suits anyone who simply wants sea air and a cliff path without leaving home.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Dublin before heading out.

  2. Howth cliff path 21 min

The camera follows the cliff path as it curves around Howth Head, with the sea dropping away on one side and gorse covering the slopes on the other.

  3. Baily Lighthouse 21 min

Reaching the Baily Lighthouse, the camera looks back across Dublin Bay, and the guide points out how far the path has come from the harbour below.

  4. Howth harbour 21 min

Back at the harbour, the camera settles on seals waiting near the boats for scraps from the returning fishermen, a routine that happens most afternoons.

  5. The pier and the village 21 min

From the pier, the camera looks out to Ireland's Eye island, then moves into the village where the guide points out where locals go for chowder after a walk like this one.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Dublin: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Guinness and The Liberties, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Dublin time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
