Aoife Byrne

I am a Dubliner from Portobello, the same street where George Bernard Shaw was born, which my mother mentioned at least once a week while I was growing up. I studied English and Irish at Trinity, taught for a few years, and then spent six years working at the James Joyce Centre, where I read Ulysses aloud more times than is healthy. Now I guide full time. My evenings are for the literary pubs, where Joyce, Behan and Kavanagh drank and argued, and my days are for Georgian Dublin and the 1916 Rising, because my great-grandmother carried messages for the rebels in Easter week. I speak English, Irish and French. I love a good question and a bad pun, and I will give you a list of books to read on the plane home.
