About this tour
This walk follows Chania's old town from the Venetian harbour to the arsenals where galleys were once built. You see the harbour lighthouse, the old plane tree at the centre of Splantzia, and the Etz Hayyim synagogue in what was once the Jewish quarter. Machairadika, the street of knife makers, connects the harbour to the quieter lanes behind it.
The call opens with a sound check at the harbour, then follows the old town's lanes at an easy pace, stopping at each quarter along the way. Questions come as the walk goes, and a short list of the streets and their history follows by message afterwards.
