About this tour

This session follows Petřín hill from bottom to top, from the Memorial to the Victims of Communism at its foot, through the orchards and the Hunger Wall built under Charles the Fourth, to Strahov monastery at the summit. The camera takes in the climb itself as well as each stop along the way. The guide has walked this route more times than can be counted and knows where to pause.

The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the hill step by step as the guide climbs, leaving room for questions along the way. Afterwards a short list of the stops and how to find them arrives by message.

This suits anyone who likes a walk with a view at the end of it, whether they are picturing an actual visit or just want the scenery from a chair. It also works for anyone curious about how a monastery keeps its own brewery running.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Prague before heading out.

  2. Memorial to the Victims of Communism 21 min

The steps below Petřín hill hold a row of bronze figures walking downhill, each one more damaged than the last. The guide explains what the memorial marks and why the sculptor chose this form.

  3. Petřín orchards and Hunger Wall 21 min

The route climbs through Petřín's orchards and rose garden before following a stretch of the Hunger Wall, built under Charles the Fourth. The guide explains why a king built a wall that no army ever attacked.

  4. Strahov monastery library and brewery 21 min

At the top, the camera looks into the Strahov monastery library from the doorway, since the reading rooms themselves stay closed to cameras, then passes the monastery's own brewery, where the guide explains centuries of monks brewing their own beer.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Prague: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Goulash with bread dumplings and Malá Strana, worth a slower look.

  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
