About this tour

This session climbs Montjuïc hill, from the terraced cactus garden through the Laribal gardens and Olympic Ring to the views from Montjuïc Castle. The camera takes in gardens built at different points across the last century, ending with the harbour spread out below the castle walls. The guide explains how a hill once used for defence became one of the city's main green spaces.

The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the hill garden by garden, with time for questions about the plants and the buildings along the way. A short list of the gardens and their opening hours follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who prefers gardens and views to crowded streets, whether planning a visit to Barcelona or simply curious from home. It also works for anyone who wants the Olympic history without the queue for the stadium.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Barcelona before heading out.

  2. Cactus garden 21 min

The cactus garden of Mossèn Costa i Llobera climbs the hillside in terraces, and the guide points out some of the older, larger specimens that have grown here for decades.

  3. Laribal gardens and Olympic Ring 21 min

The Laribal gardens lead past the Font del Gat fountain and up toward the Olympic Ring, built for the 1992 Games, where the guide explains how the stadium changed the whole hill.

  4. Montjuïc Castle 21 min

At Montjuïc Castle, the view stretches out over the port and the sea beyond it, and the walk finishes among the quiet terraces of the Botanical Garden nearby.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Barcelona: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Vermut and El Born, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
