About this tour

This walk climbs Mtatsminda, the holy mountain above Tbilisi, then follows the ridge down into the national botanical garden. You ride up by funicular, pass through the Pantheon where many of Georgia's writers and poets are buried, and follow a forest path along the ridge before reaching the garden's waterfall. It moves from the city's highest viewpoint down into one of its quietest corners.

The call opens with a sound check on the way up, then follows the ridge and the garden paths at an easy pace, with time to take in the views along the way. Questions come as the walk goes, and a short list of the stops and the names mentioned in the Pantheon follows afterwards.

This suits anyone interested in Georgian literary history as much as the views over the city. It also suits those who want a green, quieter side of Tbilisi away from the old town streets.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
