About this tour

This session walks central Brasov, from Council Square and the old town hall to the Black Church, Rope Street and the Schei quarter. The camera moves inside the Black Church to look at its Anatolian carpets, squeezes down Rope Street, and finishes at the Schei gate and the First Romanian School. It covers the old Saxon centre and the Romanian quarter just beyond its walls.

After a sound check, the guide walks the route stop by stop in the order above, explaining each building's history as the camera reaches it, with questions taken throughout. A short list of the stops and stories is sent once the call ends.

This suits anyone interested in the city's Saxon and Romanian history, whether planning a first visit to Brasov or returning to it in memory.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Brasov before heading out.

  2. Council Square 21 min

The camera crosses Council Square, taking in the old town hall at its centre, and the guide explains how this building once served as the meeting place for the city's guilds.

  3. Inside the Black Church 21 min

Inside the Black Church, the camera moves along the walls hung with Anatolian carpets, and the guide explains how these were given to the church by Saxon merchant guilds over the centuries.

  4. Rope Street 21 min

The camera squeezes down Rope Street, one of the narrowest streets in Europe, and the guide explains its old use as a route for firefighters moving between the town's two main streets.

  5. The Schei gate 21 min

At the Schei gate, the camera passes into the old Romanian quarter, and the guide stops outside the First Romanian School, explaining its part in keeping Romanian language teaching alive under Saxon rule.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Brasov: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) and Șchei, worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
