About this tour
This session rides the Untersberg cable car out of Salzburg and follows the ridge walk toward the Salzburger Hochthron summit. You see the drop to the Salzburg basin, the view across to the Watzmann and a mountain hut where walkers stop to rest. It is built for anyone weighing up the hike before doing it themselves.
The guide checks sound at the valley station, then rides up and walks the ridge in real time, pausing at each viewpoint. Questions come in about the path, the cable car or the mountain's old stories as you go. A short list of the route and timings follows the call.
This suits walkers deciding whether the ridge is within their ability, and anyone who wants mountain air without leaving their chair. It also suits former visitors curious how the trail looks this season.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 10 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Salzburg before heading out.
-
Untersberg cable car 21 min
The camera rides up inside the cable car as Salzburg drops away below, climbing 1,320 metres in a few minutes. The guide explains how the mountain has carried walkers and skiers since the 1960s.
-
Ridge toward Salzburger Hochthron 21 min
At the top the camera follows a rocky path along the ridge toward the Salzburger Hochthron summit. The guide points out the drop on either side and explains why this stretch suits walkers rather than climbers.
-
Views to the Watzmann 21 min
From a viewpoint on the ridge the camera pans across to the Watzmann and down over the whole Salzburg basin. The guide names the peaks in view and traces the route back to the city far below.
-
Mountain hut stop 21 min
The walk ends at a mountain hut where the camera shows the terrace filling with hikers. The guide tells the old legend of an emperor said to sleep inside the mountain, waking only when the ravens stop circling its peak.
-
Your questions 18 min
Time to ask anything about Salzburg: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 8 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Mozartkugel and Andräviertel, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
