Georg Aigner

I worked for thirty years at the Salzburg state forestry office, and for most of those years I was up on the Untersberg or in the Berchtesgaden Alps counting chamois, marking trees and rescuing hikers who went up in sandals. I retired early last year and my daughter talked me into guiding. I know the mountains around Salzburg very well and I know the stories that go with them: the emperor asleep inside the Untersberg, the smugglers who crossed to Bavaria, and the uglier history of the Obersalzberg across the border. I am not a talker by nature. I explain things clearly and I leave time to be quiet in the woods. I also like a good beer, and the Augustiner monastery brewery in Mülln is where I have drunk it since I was eighteen, so I show people that too. I am a widower, I have two grandsons, and I cook a very good Kasnocken. I now guide live on video from Salzburg, with my phone as the camera and time for your questions all the way through.
