About this tour

This session follows the story of Tito and socialist Yugoslavia through New Belgrade's landmark buildings. The camera moves from the House of Flowers, where Tito is buried, to the Palace of Serbia and the towering blocks of Blok 23, ending at the Genex Tower on the city's western edge. It traces how Belgrade built itself as the capital of a country that no longer exists.

The call starts with a short sound check, then moves stop by stop across New Belgrade, pausing at each building for its history. Questions come throughout, and a short list of what was seen follows once the call wraps up.

This suits anyone curious about Yugoslav history, socialist architecture or Tito himself, wherever they are. It also works well for those who remember the country firsthand and want to see how New Belgrade looks today.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Belgrade before heading out.

  2. House of Flowers 21 min

Outside the Museum of Yugoslavia, the camera looks toward the House of Flowers where Tito is buried, and the guide points out the mausoleum's plain modernist style and mentions the relay batons kept in the museum's collection.

  3. Palace of Serbia 21 min

From the street, the camera takes in the vast facade of the Palace of Serbia, once the seat of Yugoslavia's federal government, and the guide describes the scale the state built at Novi Beograd.

  4. Blok 23 21 min

Walking between the residential blocks of Blok 23, the camera shows the concrete towers and courtyards where families still live, and the guide talks about daily life in these planned housing estates today.

  5. Genex Tower 21 min

The camera looks up at the twin towers of the Genex Tower, known as the western gate of Belgrade, and the guide explains why the connecting bridge became such a landmark of the skyline.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Belgrade: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Burek and Stari Grad (Old Town), worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
