My grandmother worked packing crates on the docks, so the river side of the city has always felt like family business rather than a sight to visit. On camera I try to show the working river as much as the pretty one, the cranes and barges along with the reflections everyone photographs. I plan my calls around the tide, since the water looks completely different an hour either way. Someone once asked if the light was edited and I had to explain it was simply the hour.
