The Cité du Vin building, from the quay
Highlights
- A curved building seen from the water
- The old docks replaced by a new quay
- The shape of the building, explained
- A riverside path with room to talk
- Modern design against a historic river
About this tour
This call looks at the striking building dedicated to wine culture, seen entirely from outside along the river path. You see its curved form from several angles as we walk the quay, then the wider stretch of riverside that has grown up around it. I explain the shape and what has replaced the old dockland here.
We start close to the building itself and take questions as we move along the water, keeping a steady pace the whole way. A short note on the building's design follows the call.
This suits anyone interested in modern architecture along an old working river. It also works well paired with a later call further down the same quay.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bordeaux before heading out.
-
Cité du Vin exterior 21 min
The camera pans up the curved, swirling shape of the building from the quay, and I explain what the twisting form is meant to suggest before we move along the water.
-
Riverside walkway 21 min
You follow the path along the Garonne with the building behind you, and I point out how the whole northern quay has changed since the old docks closed here.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Bordeaux: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Arcachon Bay oysters and Saint-Pierre, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
