I studied history at Babeș-Bolyai University, and Union Square is still where I like to start, since St Michael's Church and the statue of Matthias Corvinus sit only a few steps apart yet tell two different centuries of this city's story. On camera I circle the square slowly before crossing the river to Cetățuia Hill, where the citadel wall frames the whole old town below. I keep a formal, fairly detailed pace and welcome questions about how the two squares changed under different rulers. A hilltop view suits video especially well, since the camera can hold steady on a skyline far longer than a quick glance ever does.
