I studied the city's Jewish and Moorish history at university and have kept reading about it long after, mostly because so little of it survives above ground and I like the challenge of showing what is missing. On a call I explain how to read a street plan for what used to be there, a certain curve, a blocked-up doorway, a name that gives it away. I speak three languages and switch between them easily, which helps when a question comes in a language I did not start in. I like the video format because I can zoom on a detail easy to miss on foot.
