I trained as an art historian focusing on Gothic altarpieces, so St Mary's Basilica and its wooden altar are where my sessions usually centre. I explain the altarpiece's carving in detail, since a video call lets me hold the camera steady on sections that are hard to see properly from the pews. I also cover the trumpet call from the tower, explaining the story behind the note that stops abruptly each hour. I keep a slow, deliberate pace on camera, since the carving only really reads once you stop and actually look at it properly.
