Bjarki Guðmundsson

I grew up in Grindavík, the fishing town on the Reykjanes peninsula, and my family had to leave our house in November 2023 when the earthquakes and eruptions started. The house is still standing, but we live in Reykjavík now. I worked as a fisherman and then as a chef in Reykjavík restaurants for six years, cooking lamb, cod and langoustine the old way and the new way. I know Reykjanes better than most people, and I know what it is like to live with a volcano as a neighbour, so that is one of my tours. The other is a food walk in Reykjavík. I speak Icelandic, English and German. I am straightforward and I do not dramatise. I follow the Civil Protection updates every day, and I will change the route if an area is closed. My sessions now run live on video from Reykjavik: I carry the phone, you watch from wherever you are and ask anything.
