I worked administration for an oil company before training as a guide, so the Norwegian Petroleum Museum is the session I still feel most useful running, filmed from its plaza and courtyard rather than inside its exhibition halls. I explain how a fishing town became the base for Norway's oil industry within a couple of decades. A second, lighter session walks Fisketorget, the harbourside fish market, where the change is easier to see in what people actually eat and sell. I like pairing the two industries the city has depended on, since neither explains modern Stavanger fully on its own.
