I grew up a few minutes from the Grand Place, and I still think the guild house facades look better lit at dusk than at any other hour. On these sessions I try to slow down at the details a quick pass would miss, the gilding on a gable or the carving above a doorway, and I explain the guild history behind each one. I also cover Brussels' chocolate trade, since my grandmother worked in a Sablon shop for thirty years and I grew up hearing the stories behind the pralines. Guiding on camera lets me hold the frame exactly where the detail is instead of rushing past it.
