I trained as an archaeologist before I started guiding on video, and the museum is where that background is most useful, since I can point out details in the collection that a general description would miss. On camera I try to slow down at the pieces I find most telling rather than moving through the galleries quickly. I also guide sessions through the old bazaar, where the spice stalls and the coppersmiths tell a different, more everyday story about the city. I keep my sessions formal and well organised, since viewers follow the history more easily when the structure is clear.
