Antalya's bazaar, spices and hibeş on camera
Highlights
- Dried peppers, sumac and cumin
- What goes into hibeş
- Trays of dried apricots and figs
- A jar of hibeş, ready made
- An ingredient from stall to table
About this tour
This session walks through Antalya's bazaar, from the spice stalls to a small grocer selling hibeş already prepared. You see dried peppers, sumac and cumin piled at the stalls, trays of dried fruit further along, and finally a jar of the finished dip itself. Together the stops trace an ingredient from the stall to the table.
I begin with a sound check at the entrance to the market, then we move stall by stall while you ask about the spices and their uses. I stop a little longer at the grocer's counter so you can see the finished dip clearly. At the end I send a short list of the ingredients we discussed.
This suits anyone curious about the region's food beyond the usual kebab and baklava. It also suits a cook who wants to recreate hibeş accurately at home.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later

A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tandır kebabı (slow-roasted lamb) and Muratpaşa, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
