I have climbed Palamidi's stairway more times than I can count, first as a child racing friends and later as part of my own fitness routine, so the fortress at the top feels like an old, familiar destination rather than a monument. On camera I climb at a steady pace, explaining how the Venetians built the fortress to guard the town from above. I also walk Syntagma Square, pointing out the mix of Venetian, Ottoman and neoclassical buildings around it. I take planning calls too, since visitors often underestimate how the town's three fortresses fit together. I run a warm, detailed session throughout.
