I grew up hearing about the Orange Alternative from my parents, who were students in Wroclaw during the 1980s, so the dwarf statues have always meant more to me than a photo opportunity. On camera I try to find a fresh cluster of dwarves each time, since new ones keep appearing around the city. In the history call I bring out old photographs my father kept from the original street actions and explain what the protests actually looked like. I keep both sessions a little playful, since I think that tone suits the subject.
