I studied East German history in detail, and Hohenschönhausen, a former Stasi prison now preserved as a memorial, is still the site I find most important to explain clearly and carefully. On camera I stay outside the buildings, describing the conditions inside from published accounts by former prisoners rather than filming spaces I have not been trained to show respectfully. I also guide a wider session on East Berlin's less visible sites, from secret compounds to ordinary-looking buildings with hidden purposes. I keep a formal, careful pace throughout and welcome serious questions, though I ask for a little patience with heavier topics.
