Elena Gatti

I grew up in the old Jewish Ghetto, a few steps from the Portico d'Ottavia, so the neighbourhood's history is one I heard from my own family before I ever studied it formally. On camera I move slowly along the portico, explaining its long history through more than one period of the city. In the evening I sometimes take a call from Isola Tiberina instead, describing the island as the light drops over the river on both sides, since the colour changes faster there than almost anywhere else in Rome.
