I have lived a five-minute walk from Piazza dei Miracoli my whole life, so the Leaning Tower is where nearly every session of mine begins, camera tilted to match its actual lean rather than straightened out the way most photographs cheat it. I explain how soft, unstable ground under the foundations caused the tilt almost as soon as construction started, centuries before anyone thought to correct it. I like framing the whole square in one slow turn, tower, cathedral, baptistery and cemetery walls together, since seeing them as a set makes more sense than any one building alone. I keep narration short there and let the space speak for itself.
