Piazza dei Miracoli, four buildings as one
Highlights
- Four buildings, one walled square
- A facade that shaped Tuscan churches
- Romanesque giving way to Gothic overhead
- Centuries of building, seen as a group
- A slow turn across the whole square
About this tour
This longer session treats Piazza dei Miracoli as a single composition rather than four separate sights. You see the cathedral's striped facade, the baptistery's shifting style from base to dome, and a slow turn taking in the whole walled square at once. The camera moves deliberately between close detail and the wider group.
We spend real time on each building's exterior before pulling back for the full view, since the relationship between them is easy to miss up close. I explain how the group was planned and built over centuries, and take questions as we move around the lawn.
It suits anyone who wants the fuller picture of the square rather than just the tower. It also works well as a longer session for a first visit on video.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Pisa before heading out.
-
Cathedral facade 21 min
The camera opens on the cathedral's striped marble facade, and I explain how its Romanesque style went on to influence church building right across Tuscany.
-
Baptistery exterior 21 min
Turning to the baptistery, you see its domed roof and tiered arcades, and I point out how its style shifts gradually from Romanesque at the base to Gothic higher up.
-
The square as a whole 21 min
From the centre of the lawn, the camera turns slowly to take in all four buildings together, and I explain why they were built as one connected group rather than separately.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Pisa: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bordatino (cornmeal and bean soup) and Borgo Stretto, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
