Elena Petronio

My family has Istrian Italian roots going back generations here, so I grew up speaking both Slovene and Italian at home without ever thinking of it as unusual. On camera I show the fish coming off the boats at the harbour before it reaches any restaurant table, then move on to the olive oil and wine shops that still source from vineyards a short drive inland. I trained as a sommelier before guiding, which is why I can talk about a Malvazija in more depth than most. My calls run at a relaxed pace, and I like explaining how Venetian and Slovene habits still sit side by side here.
