Eszter Kovács

I am a sommelier and a licensed Budapest guide, and I have worked in both jobs for almost twenty years. I grew up in Tokaj, where my family has a small vineyard on the volcanic hills, and I moved to Budapest to study French and Italian. After university I worked in the wine trade in Bordeaux and in a restaurant in Turin, then came home to open a wine bar, which I sold in 2019. Now I guide wine tastings and the city's architecture, which is my other love: the Art Nouveau of Budapest is as good as Vienna's and much less known. I also enjoy taking visitors to the thermal baths, because I have gone to the Rudas every Sunday for twenty years and know the rules that nobody explains. I am calm, well organised and I like good questions. My husband is a cellist, and our daughter is at university in Lyon. I guide live on video now, walking Budapest with my phone and answering your questions in real time.
