I trained as a painter before I ever thought about guiding, so Čiurlionis has been part of my life since art school, when I first copied his cloud studies badly and loved them anyway. On camera I move close to the canvases so you can see the brushwork the museum lighting usually flattens out. The Devils' Museum call is my favourite hour of the week, because every figure in that collection has a story the founder wrote down himself, and I read a few out loud as we go. I like an audience that interrupts with questions rather than waits politely to the end.
