Highlights

  • Čiurlionis's cloud and sea studies, close up
  • Where his music and painting overlap
  • Manuscript pages beside finished canvases
  • One artist, two forms, one short career
  • A close look, not a full museum tour

About this tour

This session looks closely at the work of M. K. Čiurlionis, Lithuania's best known painter and composer, inside the museum dedicated to him. You see his cloud and sea studies up close and pages of his musical manuscripts in the room next door. It stays with one artist rather than covering the whole museum.

I begin with a short sound check in front of the cloud paintings, then move room by room towards the manuscripts, explaining the overlap between his music and his painting as we go. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short list of pieces to look up afterwards.

This suits anyone interested in early twentieth-century art or artists who worked across more than one form. It also works well for anyone who already knows his music and wants to see the paintings that came from the same mind.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kaunas before heading out.

  2. Čiurlionis's Cloud Studies 21 min

The camera moves close to a set of Čiurlionis's cloud and sea paintings, and I explain how he composed music and painted within the same short career.

  3. The Composer's Manuscripts 21 min

In the next room, I show pages of his musical scores alongside the paintings and point out where the two overlap in mood and structure.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Kaunas: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Šaltibarščiai and Naujamiestis (New Town), worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Vilnius time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
