I have worked inside Eger Castle for over a decade, first as a groundskeeper and now guiding on camera along its walls. I show the fortifications that held against a much larger Ottoman army in 1552 and explain how the defenders managed it with so few men. I climb the minaret on a separate session, since its narrow stair only fits one camera angle comfortably, and I point out how far north it sits compared with any other Ottoman minaret left standing in Europe. I keep a formal, detailed pace and welcome long stretches of questions about the siege.
