Hasan Çelik

I was born in a cave house in Göreme. My parents moved into a concrete house in the eighties, like most families here, and we used the cave to store potatoes and apricots. I have guided in Cappadocia for fifteen years, and I learned Japanese because for a long time they were the most curious visitors we had. My favourite tour is on foot: through the Red and Rose valleys in the late afternoon, past pigeon houses carved in the rock and a church with frescoes that most people never find, to a sunset point where we share tea from a thermos. I also run the classic south day, the Derinkuyu underground city, the Ihlara gorge and the Selime monastery. Balloons are not my business, but I can tell you which companies I would fly with and which mornings are likely to be cancelled for wind. I now guide live on video from Cappadocia, with my phone as the camera and time for your questions all the way through.
