About this tour

This session walks Göreme as evening sets in, from its lit streets to a small rock-cut church and a town square with the fairy chimney formations rising behind it. The guide follows the town's own rhythm as shopfronts light up and the day's heat drops. It is a quieter version of Cappadocia than the daytime balloon views most people know.

The call opens with a sound check, then follows the three stops as the light changes, with questions taken throughout the walk. A short list of what was covered is sent once the call ends.

This suits anyone who prefers a place in the evening or anyone missing Cappadocia and wanting to see it again. It also suits those planning a visit who want a sense of the town itself, not just the balloons.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cappadocia before heading out.

  2. Göreme at dusk 17 min

As the light fades over Göreme, the camera moves through the town's streets while the shopfronts and cave-cut buildings light up one by one, and the guide points out how the rock is carved directly into the walls.

  3. A Göreme church 17 min

Outside one of Göreme's small rock-cut churches, the camera holds on the carved facade in the evening light, and the guide explains how these chapels were carved into the volcanic rock centuries ago.

  4. Town square in Göreme 17 min

In one of Göreme's small squares, the camera settles as the evening cools and people start gathering outdoors, and the guide answers questions while pointing out the fairy chimney rock formations rising just behind the rooftops.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Cappadocia: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Dried fruit and nuts and Uçhisar, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Istanbul time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
