I studied architecture and the twelve courtyards of the Palacio de Viana are still my favourite thing to film, since each one has a different mood once you step through the arch. On camera I count them out loud crossing from one to the next, because it helps people keep track of where we are inside such a large house. In the evening I sometimes switch to the Alcázar gardens instead, when the fountains are lit and the orange trees smell strongest, though a screen cannot carry the smell. Germans ask the most precise questions about dates, so I keep a short timeline ready for those calls.
