Twelve courtyards of the Palacio de Viana
Highlights
- Twelve courtyards, four centuries
- Orange trees around a fountain
- Tile patterns that never repeat
- A garden added last
- One house, many moods
About this tour
This session moves through three of the twelve courtyards inside the Palacio de Viana, tracing how a single house grew outward over four centuries into a patchwork of gardens and tiled patios. You see how each courtyard has its own mood, from citrus trees to clipped hedges. The camera counts the transitions clearly so the layout is easy to follow.
We start at the entrance courtyard with a short check of the framing, then move steadily through the next two, pausing at each for a minute of quiet before I explain what changed and why. Questions are welcome at every stop, and I send a short plan of all twelve courtyards afterward for reference.
This suits anyone interested in architecture or garden design, and travellers who prefer a single grand house over a full day of separate monuments. It also works well for a rainy or very hot afternoon, since the courtyards stay shaded.

Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cordoba before heading out.
-
The orange tree courtyard 17 min
The camera enters the first courtyard, planted with orange trees around a central fountain, and I explain how the palace's twelve courtyards were laid out over four centuries by different owners.
-
The tiled reception courtyard 17 min
You see a smaller courtyard lined with patterned tile benches, once used to receive visitors outdoors in warmer months, and I point out how the pattern changes on every wall.
-
The garden courtyard 17 min
We reach the largest of the courtyards, a formal garden with clipped hedges, and I explain how the family that owned the house added this one last, in the early 20th century.

-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Rabo de toro and Judería, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
