Lena Schmidt

I studied art history with a focus on Gothic architecture, so the Cathedral is where most of my sessions still begin, since six hundred years of construction leaves a lot to point out once you know where to look. I hold the camera on the facade long enough to show the soot-darkened stone against the newer, lighter sections, and I explain what that difference actually tells you about the building's history. I try to end each session at the Rhine promenade, since seeing the towers from across the water changes how people understand the scale of what they just watched up close.
