I worked on passenger ships before I moved into guiding, so the SS Rotterdam is the one landmark in the city I can talk about from the inside out rather than just as a visitor. My sessions there move along the deck, and I explain what daily life on a liner like this actually involved, not just the dates on a plaque. I also cover Kop van Zuid, since the old docklands sit a short walk from the ship and tell a related story about how the harbour side of the city changed.
