I trained as a marine biologist and worked at the aquarium for a few years before I started guiding, so Porto Antico and the tanks inside it are what I know best on camera. I walk the redeveloped waterfront first, explaining how Renzo Piano, a Genoese architect himself, reshaped the old docks for the 1992 anniversary of Columbus's voyage. Inside the aquarium, I hold the phone steady in front of the tanks I know best from my own years working there. On a shorter call, I also cover how the port itself changed from working docks to public space. I answer questions about marine life as readily as the architecture.
