Magdalena Rainer

I was born in Salzburg and sang in the cathedral choir as a girl, so Mozart has been part of my life since before I could spell his name. I studied musicology and Japanese in Vienna, lived for two years in Kyoto teaching German, and came home in 2008 to work as a licensed guide. Many of my guests are from Japan, and I enjoy guiding in Japanese very much. Salzburg is small and busy, especially during the festival in summer, and I plan my routes to avoid the crowds at Getreidegasse whenever I can. I will tell you about Mozart, of course, but also about the prince-archbishops who built this city with salt money and threw out its Protestants in 1731. I am organised and punctual. My sessions now run live on video from Salzburg: I carry the phone, you watch from wherever you are and ask anything.
