Mehmet Yılmaz

I grew up in Fethiye and worked years as a diving instructor before I started guiding on camera. I still time my sessions the way I used to time dives, watching the light change over the harbour before deciding where to stop. On video I slow down at the rock tombs above the town and let the camera sit still long enough for the carving to register, something people rushing past on foot rarely do. Most of my sessions start from the old bazaar, since the lanes still follow the shape the town had before the 1957 earthquake, easier to explain when you can see it behind me.
