I grew up in Arnavutköy among the wooden waterfront houses my grandfather always said were disappearing faster than anyone admitted. I trained as a guide to walk this stretch of the Bosphorus properly, from Arnavutköy through Bebek to the plane trees of Emirgan, rather than rushing tourists past it toward the old city. On camera I like slowing down at a single house or tree rather than covering the whole distance in one session, because that is usually where a viewer's actual questions come from. I try to explain what has been lost here as honestly as what remains.
