Newroz Kaya

I grew up walking through Mardin's bazaar with my mother, so I know which stalls have been there the longest and which ones changed hands more recently. On camera I like showing the soap and spice stalls together, since both say something about how this city has traded with its neighbours for centuries. I also take viewers out to Midyat, a town with similar stone architecture a short drive away, since the comparison helps explain what makes Mardin's own old city distinct. I keep my sessions brief and grounded in what is actually in front of the camera.
