Midyat's old stone town, on camera
Highlights
- Stone lanes similar to Mardin's own
- A church sharing details with Mardin's
- Historical links between the two towns
- A silver craft spread across generations
- Two towns, closely connected
About this tour
This session compares Midyat's old stone town with Mardin's own, following its carved lanes, an old church exterior and a row of silver workshops. You see the architectural similarities between the two towns, a church sharing details with ones back in Mardin, and workshops continuing the same silver craft. The session explains how closely linked these two places have always been.
I begin with a sound check in the old lanes, then we move through the town stop by stop while you ask questions about the connections to Mardin. I point out shared details at each stop. Afterwards I send a short note on the history we covered.
This suits anyone who enjoyed a Mardin session and wants to see how the same traditions continued in a neighbouring town. It also suits a traveller deciding whether to add Midyat to their own trip.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
