I grew up near the central market hall, and Banya Bashi Mosque next door is still the building I most enjoy showing, since it has stayed in continuous use since the sixteenth century despite the very different city that has grown up around it. On camera I move between the mosque and the market hall, pointing out how closely Ottoman and later architecture sit side by side here. I keep a brief, practical pace and take questions as they come. Video suits this stretch of the city particularly well, since the camera can move between two very different buildings in only a few steps.
