I collect odd local history the way some people collect stamps, and the Yenidze building, an old cigarette factory built to look like a mosque, is still my favourite thing to explain in the city, mostly because visitors rarely expect it. On camera I stay outside, since the building is now offices, and let the unusual facade do most of the talking while I fill in the story behind it. I also guide a longer walk through some of the Altstadt's less obvious corners for anyone who has already done the main sights. I keep things a little informal and enjoy questions that send the session sideways.
