I trained as a guide focusing on military architecture, so the fortress at the tip of Ortigia and the Roman amphitheatre on the mainland are the two sites I keep coming back to. On camera I walk the castle's outer walls and explain how it was built to guard the harbour entrance, then later sessions cover the amphitheatre, where I point out how its oval shape differs from the curved Greek theatre nearby. I like showing how Greek, Roman and medieval builders each left their own mark on the same stretch of coastline. I have guided here for seven years.
