I climb the cathedral bell tower most mornings before the heat sets in, which gives me first pick of the light over the Riva below. My sessions usually move from the tower down to the waterfront itself, then on some mornings across to the green market for whatever has just come in from the islands. I trained originally as a translator, which is probably why I like slowing down on the details rather than rushing a route. Eight years of doing this on camera has taught me exactly which stretch of the Riva photographs best at which hour.
