Ricardo Lopes

I grew up on the coast near Sintra, and Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, is where I feel most at home on camera. I hold the phone steady at the cliff edge, since the wind there is strong enough to ruin a shaky shot completely. I explain what the old lighthouse still does and why sailors once treated this point as the edge of the known world. Back in town, I show the pastry shops selling travesseiros and queijadas, and I ask the bakers what actually changes between their versions. I answer questions about both the coast and the sweets as honestly as I can, including my own favourites.
